Ask Three Questions to Challenge Irrational Beliefs
The ability to be more flexible, open-minded, tolerating and accepting is key to rational thinking. Conversely, irrational beliefs can cause excessive emotional reactions and self-defeating behaviors. Learning to question and challenge irrational beliefs and replace those with more rational coping statements can help people to feel and act better. Pick some strongly held thoughts or beliefs and then answer the three rational questions to help you decide if the thoughts or beliefs are helpful or not so helpful.
