It is not easy to see any advantages or good things when bad things happen. Unfortunately, the brain stores bad memories from the past and new situations continue to trigger them. However, sometimes when we look back on unpleasant situations we can uncover some good things or the silver lining that came out of the bad situation. List 2 unpleasant events or memories from your past. Next, try to think of any good things that happened after the unpleasant event. Sometimes people get a better job after getting fired. Looking for the silver lining will help to reduce the distress of past painful memories and help you to feel better.
